When I was around 9 or so my family was living in California. My father took us on our weekly yard sale hunts at a huge mile long neighborhood sale. I was so excited just to find some good deals with my father  anyhow but then I saw it, the sign I had been looking for.. So I rushed to the people in charge and asked where it was, they said “Around back so I rushed in back and started looking. I was back there oh about 15 minutes when one of the guys comes back and asks if im finding everything ok. I say ”no I can’t find any” he said “What do you mean you can’t find any, you’re standing right on it!” now instead of just looking down, understanding where the mistake was, me being the ditz I was and still am said “I don’t see any fireworks” He stared at me a moment, laughed then said “hun, the sign said ‘free firewood’ not fireworks..” then he walked up front laughing as I got down off the huge pile of firewood I was standing on and rushed to the front to find my parents and leave. Everyone was laughing at the time as he had told all the people running the sale and anyone nearby to hear. I just walked off briskly looking for my parents, with my head down and feeling jilted that I didn’t find the fireworks!

ADSR Challenge #7 & #8

Sunday, August 12th, 2007

Here are previews of both my layouts for the Challenges #7 & #8 in the ADSR.

The first one was hosted by Blue Flombingo:

The Challenge:For this challenge each of you will be creating a multi-photo layout.  And not just 2 or 3 photos - you must use a minimum of TEN PHOTOS on your layout!!!!  NO TEMPLATES MAY BE USED!!!  You may, however, use photo clusters or negative frames, etc.  Just no pre-designed page templates. Now there’s a twist so pay close attention…   Smiles

You will choose your background paper(s), photos and title and will arrange them the way that you want them.  THEN you and your partner will TRADE your layouts and your partner will be responsible to embellish your layout for you!  On a sidenote, I’m not sure what the official policy is on trading layouts, but it is very important that we not go anywhere near file sharing.  If your partner owns the same products you used for your background paper and/or title, then you may share your .psd file.  If they do not own the same products, then you must send a flattened .jpg.  I hope this isn’t too confusing!

Please feel free to post your layout links here if you would like (note: we have this forum set up to require approval for all forum registrants to help curb the insane amount of spam that we get so it may be a few hours before you receive approval - I apologize about that!).

You may do either a one or two page layout.

You can preview the post here - Challenge #7

Here is my layout that my partner, Clare (MrsS) embellished for me. I plan on making a 2nd page once I catch up on a bunch of other stuff to go with it for Cody’s car album.

You can also see a preview of it here at Rakscraps.

Here is my lqyout for the 8th Challenge in the ADSR. It was hosted by Designs by Dani - Dani’s Girls

Your Challenge: Each participant needs to create a layout using the theme “Girl Talk.” Some ideas of how to use the theme: Show us the person you are most likely to “girl talk” with… what is most often the topic of discussion in your “girl talk”? what about when you were a teen? what was the girl talk then? what is it now? how’s it changed? Just about anything goes as long as you incorporate the theme in some way.

You can view the actual post here: Challenge #8

Here is my layout:

ADSR Challenge #5

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

Here is my 5th challenge for the ADSR. We were to do a journaling page about something someone in our life has taught us that means something to us. I chose my mother and her wonderful life lesson’s throughout my life. Thanks for looking!

Journaling:

A Mother’s Advice

My mother has always been a very influential part of my life. I remember my childhood as fun and wild. She made growing up easier and something that we could look back and reflect on with fond memories. My father and her both taught me so many things in my life and I appreciate and love them both greatly for that.

A few things that stick out in my mind of my mother’s advice in my lifetime have been; It’s ok to smile at the world, It’s ok not to smile at the world but just be yourself. It’s ok to cry, it shows you are human and sensitive. It’s ok to feel pretty and show the world your ‘girly’ side, it’s ok to admit your faults, no one will think badly on you for asking for help, life isn’t always fair, make the most of what you are dealt with. Be honest and a good person and people will respect you for that. Laugh, it improves your lifespan, and the one thing I treasure most of all that my mother taught me is how to love other’s with such a deep and unconditional love. For all the reason’s above I am glad to say that I am my mother’s child and hope to be just like her one day.

Thank you mom, I love you.

Mother’s Lessons

We also had a 6th challenge that was to have a minimum of 15 different elements and no more than two elements were to be by the same designer (so basically a minimum of 8 designers). Clare, my wonderful partner, decided she wanted to do this challenge since it was a 1 team member only challenge and I think she did a great job on it. Here are links to both of her layouts for the 5th and 6th challenge:

Journaling:

The Spencer Transportation Museum has aircraft, all kinds of vehicles, even an old canoe..Amazing! But what interested your father and grandfather the most was the trains. It is only 30 minutes away so we can’t wait to go back again and again.

ADSR Challenge #3 Layout

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

This is my entry for the Amazing Digital Scrapbooking Race Season 2’s third Challenge. It was supposed to be in the theme of a ’storybook’ so naturally I picked my son for the inspiration of this layout. These were photos taken at his 1 year photo shoot (ugh it’s really been 5 months since then hasn’t it?)

Journaling:

Once upon a time there was a young prince named Wesley who loved to play with his trains and trucks most days. He also loved to drive his fancy car to town where he would pick up his dearly beloved cake. He loved being a prince and wearing his crown proudly atop of his head but the thing he loved the most was getting tons of hugs and kisses from his mommy and daddy. ADSR Challenge #4 Layout

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

This is my 4th layout for the Amazing Digital Scrapbooking Race season 2 challenges! We were to scrap something with the letter ‘G’ for ‘GOAL’ and some kind of life goals in our layout. I think all mother’s have the same goals as I have shown in my layout.

Journaling:
My goal in life is to ensure you are well fed, rested, entertained, challenged, loved and most importantly that the paths in your future are made easier to travel so you do not have to struggle to succeed in reaching your goals and achievements.

Inspiration came by a dear friend of mine. I was completely at a blank for this page and was going crazy and the genius that she is just came up with the idea of my goals for my son instead of my personal goals for myself. She is an awesome designer and friend. Thank you Rhiannon! :hugs:
